Dr. Lindsay Baker
Senior Scientist
Dr. Lindsay Baker is a Senior Scientist working in the Exercise Physiology Laboratory at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI). Her research areas of interest include thermoregulation, dehydration, sodium balance, and exercise/sport performance. Originally from Saxton, Pennsylvania, Lindsay came to GSSI from The Pennsylvania State University where she earned a doctorate in Kinesiology in May 2008. While at Penn State, she conducted research at Noll Laboratory under the mentorship of Dr. W. Larry Kenney, testing the effects of progressive dehydration on basketball performance, fluid/electrolyte balance in marathon runners, and voluntary fluid intake behavior by older active adults during exercise. She has authored and co-authored several publications in scientific journals. Lindsay earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She played NCAA Division II basketball and ran for the track and cross-country teams at Pitt-Johnstown. In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys playing tennis, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing.
